The exhibition nature morte is dedicated to ideas of nature and human existence through the representation of metaphorical states. The focus is on works that understand nature and man as a negotiation space between supposedly natural and culturally influenced ideas.

The exhibition title nature morte refers to the art historical still life as something idealized, but also as a form of preservation. At the same time, he opens the view of the question of nature and death as well as the transitions between the two.

Nature appears in the exhibition as a considered, arranged and controlled state, whose integrity is questioned. At the same time, materiality is of particular importance: material is understood not only as a shaping agent, but as an independent, natural component of the work.

Between materiality, scenic imagination and ornamental setting, the exhibition unfolds a picture of nature as a construction and makes the tension between vibrancy and artificiality visible.

Laura Eckert’s works address physicality in the field of tension between organic matter and artificial, technical elements. Her sculptures and paintings show fragmented, composite body shapes in which nature can be read both as an origin and as a constructed structure.

Inga Kerber’s drawing works are dedicated to the representation of man and nature in a stylized and repetitive form. A pronounced sensitivity to material and line characterizes her work, in which the motifs unfold restrainedly and refer to a close relationship between man and nature.

Marco Wagner’s works deal with cultural images of idyll, homeland and still lifes. Based on familiar motifs, he expands his view of landscape, interior and the classic nature morte and presents traditional ideas of the idyllic for discussion.
